Celebrity Cruises is in contact with us asking what they can do to make our cruise more enjoyable! Vive la différence! I know I asked about this before, but feel free to pile on the suggestions! I have a really good feeling about GC8. I hope you all come along. File this under "Boy, I'm glad Carnival tossed us!"

I did the survey that RCCL sent me on line and made casual mention that
I was part of the goth group,
I'm pretty sure the "other" goth cruise always went with Carnival, but now it
appears that they are going with NCL.  So I'm thinking that we got labeled
for things that the "other" cruisers did that caused Carnival to dis them.
Interesting.   And kudos to Sharkskitten  et al for ranting at  Carnival and
canceling what would have been a large booking.  I guess the "fun ship"
is eliminating fun from their itineraries!

Thank you

Thanks to everyone for their support with regard to the whole Carnival thing. While it's disappointing and somewhat depressing to think that we are judged by a label and not by our individual merits, we can show Carnival that we don't need them to have fun. If you so desire, please continue to show your displeasure with Carnival by contacting their senior management.

We probably won't have a new GC8 Itinerary in place until after the holidays, so we ask everyone to hang tight and bear with us as we regroup.

Cruises Only received an email today from Carnival Cruise Lines informing them that GothCruise 8 was not welcome on their ships.

"Carnival reserves the right to deny booking to individuals, groups or charters that may be disruptive to the cruise experience for other guests on the ship or whose activities or message is inconsistent with the family-friendly experience"

Due to their assertion that GothCruise doesn't fit into their idea of what's family-friendly, they have decided to cancel our trip onboard the Carnival Glory. We are working with Cruises Only in finding a comparable cruise at this time, and will keep you up to date with what comes out from that.

Should you wish to contact Carnival to discuss any grievances regarding this decision, please try to keep the discourse civil, professional and rise above whatever caused them to change their policies regarding goths. A couple of bad seeds shouldn't sway a company to ban certain lifestyles, so lets show them that it's their loss not have us aboard.

I've just received word that the Meet and Greet on the boat will take place in the Baltic Conference Room from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5th. The only location info they gave us is "Theater", which is toward the front of the boat on decks 4, 5 and 6. It is my assumption that we should be able to find it from there and direct everyone where to go. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CHAMPAGNE (or any other drinks or food) TO THE MEET AND GREET. We will distribute laminates and get everyone acquainted and then will most likely bring the party up to the Viking Crown lounge (where you can bring your champagne, if you would like).

Looking forward to seeing all of you on the boat this weekend!

It seems that I got someone else's (men's) 2XL shirt sent to me by mistake.
Which makes me wonder if there is a guy out there scratching his head over
an XL babydoll shirt...I ordered a size larger just in case, but probably didn't
need to.  Anyone need to swap?

FYI for those who were interested in knowing for wardrobe prep:

We have two formal nights on GC7 - Monday, December 6th & Thursday, December 9th. The first formal night coincides with the Heaven & Hell Ball, and we do not have an event planned for the second formal night.

Also, you can check in online at Royal Carribbean at any time between now and three days before sailing at www.royalcaribbean.com. Have passport and airline reservation information handy when checking in.

Have fun and we'll be seeing you all soon!

Oh, just thought I'd mention---a little (optional) door decor helps to identify other goths!  Helps to distinguish  your door quickly when
they all look alike.  Unless everyone has bats and/or bloody knives.   Hmmm.

Thought I would mention:  a friend and I went on the Epic the first week in Oct;   her first cruise ever, my first non-goth cruise.  I've got to say,
it wasn't perfection, but we really did enjoy it.  The room design was not a problem, and some of the complaints others have had seem to
have been remedied.  They do nickle and dime you horribly.  They claim "tips" aren't really necessary; then they go on to say every passenger over the age of 3 has to pay a service charge of $12 per day (X 7 days, say, for a family of 4---you do the math---yikes!)  They
sort of nudge you into the priceyer specialty restaurants with the mostly mundane free food choices.  The outside of the ship is not pretty
(especially sitting next to the beautiful RCCL Freedom of the Seas--WOW--we saw her in Nassau. )  But the ship is pretty on the inside
where it counts.  The food in the specialty restaurants was good though; and the entertainment on board was the best I've seen anywhere--
Blue Man Group for free (saw them twice); Second City; Cirque Dreams was even exceptional and I don't usually have the attention span for
that!  An excellent bluesy band in the blues club every night.  And the BLISS ultra lounge---outside of the Chamber on RCCL's Explorer--THE
gothiest lounge I've ever seen.  Two black 4 poster beds with velvet cushions--you read that right--as well as comfy purple black and gold
chairs/couches.  I spent hours in there, trying to write my novel.  Still--you fellow GC-ers will probably appreciate this---every one my friend and I talked to--past cruisers, travel agents, CC members, etc. that we met on board seemed to be of the same mind---Meh, it's OK, but it's
not Royal Caribbean!  The Serenade looks like a beautiful ship---getting excited!

Our reservation at the Hard Rock Cafe Old San Juan for the Pre-Cruise Meet-Up has been made for Saturday, December 4th at 8:00 p.m.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again. Just one month left!
[identity profile] furious-lil.livejournal.com
I am making the reservation for the Pre-Cruise Meet-Up tomorrow, so if you would like to attend, tonight's your last chance to RSVP. Please let me know if you plan to attend so your spot will be reserved! Obviously, this does not apply to those of you who have already RSVP'd.

I hate to be a pain in the butt, but today is the LAST DAY to order your T-shirts for Goth Cruise 7.  Shirts will NOT be sold on the cruise.

Please get your order in by midnight, tonight!

[identity profile] theonebob.livejournal.com
Hey folks, If you are going on the cruise, look for an email from me regarding GC7 T-shirts, DJing, PreCruise Dinner, and the dance events. If you didn't get it, either your cabinmate got it or you are not going on the cruise.

My Fellow GothCruisers:

I am pleased to announce that we have selected a location for our pre-cruise meet-up in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Saturday, December 4th. In order to firm up our group reservation, I need some feedback from all of you regarding whether or not you will (a) be in Puerto Rico the night before we sail and (b) if you will be able to attend the meet-up. First, though...the location:

Hard Rock Cafe San Juan
253 Recinto Sur Street
Old San Juan, PR 00901

I NEED AN RSVP NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 1st!!!! I have already spoken with the sales manager and she is prepared to put in a group reservation for us so that we will all be seated in the same area, but I need to know approximately how many people we are going to have and I need to find a meet-up time that will work for everyone. So, if you would be so kind as to take a minute to answer the following and email me back as soon as possible, it would be greatly appreciated:

Do you anticipate going to the meet-up?
If so, which of the following times would work best for you? 6:00, 7:00 or 8:00 pm?

Also, personalized printed laminates will be made for all of our GCers this year, as long as I receive the information I need before November 15. If you do not respond by the 15th, you will still get a laminate - but it will be the blank fill-in-your-own deals a la the last few cruises. So, if you would like a shiny personalized laminate, (and you have not previously sent the information to me) please answer the following and email back to me by November 15! I will respond to the email to confirm that I received your information, so I don't miss anyone (Don't want anyone caught in the mail filters!) I need your:

Nickname (if any):
Quote (if any):

Also, if you could include if you have been on any previous GothCruises and which ones, that would be appreciated as well. Once again, your cabin mate most likely did not get this email, so if you could pass on this information and/or my email address to them, that would be awesome.

Looking forward to seeing you all in December,

Your GothCruise Director
