I know the Explorer will do laundry for a substantial fee-----does anyone living in the NJ/Newark airport area know of a decent, preferably attendant present laundromat that I can use once we get into port? I got a few choices from laundromatfinder.com, but don't know details, ie safe neighborhoods etc. Any advice?

Date: 2007-10-01 10:51 pm (UTC)I grew up in the town next to Newark (Hillside) and to this day I will only go to the airport or travel though it on fast roads or trains. I would never be caught in town. The hotels closer to the airport are not in a bad area, so if you could find something there...

Date: 2007-10-03 03:58 pm (UTC)I don't think it will help much with the volume of laundry you'll need to do, but I usually bring a bungee cord with me and use it to hang up some hand wash if needed. If you did some of that yourself, it might make farming out the remaining stuff to the ship more viable?
I'm sort of annoyed that RC doesn't have laundry on board myself. I am local, yes, but I actually don't mind throwing in a load at night while I chill in the cabin. I like being able to pack less and I'm a spiller, so destaining stuff when incidents happen is a lot less hard on the wardrobe.

I appreciate all the input from everyone! It will work out somehow, I'm sure.

I'm wondering if there's anything near the port in Bayonne? That might work, too. It's a working class area but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as Newark.

3) how far are you willing to travel to get to a laundromat?

I'm heading to Europe, London first, but there will be no time to locate laundry facilities anywhere along the way. Better to struggle with it in the states. I'm trying to make 5 days worth of clothing stretch to 14 days. Luckily, it's all black!!
