Laundry
I know the Explorer will do laundry for a substantial fee-----does anyone living in the NJ/Newark airport area know of a decent, preferably attendant present laundromat that I can use once we get into port? I got a few choices from laundromatfinder.com, but don't know details, ie safe neighborhoods etc. Any advice?

I don't think it will help much with the volume of laundry you'll need to do, but I usually bring a bungee cord with me and use it to hang up some hand wash if needed. If you did some of that yourself, it might make farming out the remaining stuff to the ship more viable?
I'm sort of annoyed that RC doesn't have laundry on board myself. I am local, yes, but I actually don't mind throwing in a load at night while I chill in the cabin. I like being able to pack less and I'm a spiller, so destaining stuff when incidents happen is a lot less hard on the wardrobe.

for things to dry.
I appreciate all the input from everyone! It will work out somehow, I'm sure.

I agree that it wouldn't have killed RC to throw a washer and dryer onboard instead of setting up a for profit laundry service. Maybe that ought to make this year's comment card.
I'm wondering if there's anything near the port in Bayonne? That might work, too. It's a working class area but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as Newark.
